Ford Motor Company Increases Production To Meet Demand

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich.- We've got great news to share about Ford Motor Company and the auto industry as a whole! A recently revitalized demand for autos in the United States has followed years of cost reductions, plant closings, and battles with U.S. unions. And as demand continues to increase, Ford Motor Company announced they will boost production to meet the demand for their cars and trucks in North America by increasing manufacturing and shortening summer shutdowns.

While most of the region's Ford Motor Company manufacturing plants usually shut down for two weeks during the summer, the automaker has announced that as part of the plan to meet North American demand, the usual summer shutdown at most plants will be shorter.  This year, plants will only shut down for one week, instead of two, adding 40,000 units of capacity.

The ultimate goal is to increase North American manufacturing capacity to 200,000 vehicles. In addition to reducing summer shutdowns, Ford has added workers to make up a third shift at its Kansas City and Detroit assembly plants. Adding a third shift means the plants will be working beyond full capacity, making them more efficient and profitable.

You get convenience from a distance. The new Ford Remote Access application for your smartphone (iPhone® or Android™) can be used from any location with a Wi-Fi® or cellular signal. When you are at work or traveling, keep track of your vehicle with optional email and/or text security notifications. It is also backed by a Ford Custom Accessories Warranty. What are the main features of Remote Access?
Using a smartphone (iPhone® or Android™ device), features include: Lock/Unlock, Remote Start, and Audible Car Find. There also is an optional feature to receive email or text alerts for security (Perimeter alarm, shock sensor). All these features are also available via a web portal.

Is Remote Access available on all vehicles?
Remote Access is currently available on the following Ford vehicle lines:

• 2011/2012/2013 - F150, Super Duty, Edge, Explorer
• 2013 - Taurus, Flex 

What is the Installation time?
The Remote Access System is designed for "plug-n-play" with no wire splicing. The estimated install time varies by vehicle and ranges from 1/2 hour to 1 hour.

Support the Brian Woehlke Fund Tonight

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich.- Join us tonight, May 13th, to help out a truly amazing cause! Uncle Buck from classic rock radio station, 94.7 WCSX, will be with us at our dealership at the corner of Nine Mile and Mack to help raise funds for fallen firefighter Brian Woehlke's family from 5pm-7pm.

Just 10 months into his dream job as a Wayne-Westland firefighter, Brian Woehlke was killed when a roof collapsed on him during a strip mall fire. Brian was the first firefighter killed in the line of duty in the Westland Fire Department's 47 year history. Sadly, Brian has left behind his wife, Jennifer, and 13-month old daughter, Ava. The Brian Woehlke Fund has been set up to help his young daughter Ava.

WCSX has been out collecting funds for the family all day today, so stop by Roy O'Brien Ford tonight from 5pm-7pm to show your support and make a donation if you can. Our thoughts are with the family in this difficult time!
