Founded in Massachusetts, the world's largest car sharing and car club service announced today that the number of vehicles in the company's Detroit car sharing network will be significantly expanding! While the network originally only included a small number of vehicles available for use in the city, Zipcar's Detroit expansion will include the addition of up to 40 vehicles. Of which, the vehicles will be located for across the city in public and private lots and garages for member use. Detroit's Zipcar expansion will also include the availability of vehicles at Wayne State University and College for Creative Studies.
One of the most significant parts of the announcement that Zipcar will expand in Detroit is that of the 40 additional vehicles, most will come from our locally-based Ford Motor Company! Specifically, the company has confirmed they will offer a Ford Escape named "Martius,"Ford Focus called "Motor City," and a Mustang named "Belle Isle."
