Brake Warning Lights

If your Brake Warning Light turns on, check your owners manual for the exact meaning because it can differ from car to car. However, on ABS-equipped vehicles, the ABS light should be take more seriously and receive maintenance immediately, especially if the light is blinking, since that is an indicator the situation could be as severe as dead brakes.

While soaking up the sun on the boat and spending time with friends and family, it is easy to get caught up in the moment. That's why we want to give you a few boating tips on how to stay safe while having fun this summer:

Be Conscious of the Weather
Check the weather conditions for the day. Nothing ruins a boat trip like a sudden downpour! By being aware of what the weather is going to be like for the day, you avoid having your fun interrupted. Not to mention, if the weather turns rough you're out of harms way.

Follow a Pre-Departure Checklist
Just to make sure you aren't forgetting any safety rules or regulations, make a list and check it twice! By going over everything, you are prepared for anything that comes your way. Don't forget the sunscreen!

Use Common Sense
This is a big one: use common sense! Be aware of your surroundings, and trust your gut. If you get the feeling that something isn't right, or perhaps what you're doing isn't a good idea, don't do it. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Pick an Assistant
Make sure more than one person onboard the boat is able to operate it. If something were to happen to your driver, or if alcohol is being consumed, you need to make sure that you have a capable driver to get you back to shore. We recommend having at least one other person with you who can take charge if need be.

Make a Float Plan
Let someone know where you're going, and for how long you think you'll be gone. Especially if you're planning to take a trip across one of our Great Lakes, let somebody know your plans. A float plan can include the following: name, address, phone numbers of all the passengers; boat type and registration information; trip plans; and types of communication and signal equipment onboard.

Lifejackets are a Must
Did you know that 2/3 of drowning victims know how to swim? Be safe and make sure everybody onboard the boat is wearing a lifejacket; this is especially true for children.

Avoid Alcohol
Much like you wouldn't get behind the wheel of a car after you've been drinking, don't get behind the wheel of a boat.

Learn to Swim
If you're going to be in or around water, it's always important to know how to swim. Whether you or your children need to learn how, you can find local swim classes offered in the area. Remember, it's never too late to learn!

But instead of trying to clean up the mess that winter made all at once, get your vehicle ready for spring with our easy Spring Car Car Tips that each take only 10 minutes or less!

When it comes to Spring Car Care Tips, we're keening it simple. Try one at a time and your vehicle will be squeaky clean in no time!

-Next time you go out to the car, bring a bag and throw away any garbage or things you don't need.
-Clean the mats. Take your mats out next time you get out of the car. Wash them off and then hang them to dry so they're ready to go next time you get in the car.
-Keep dust away year round by adding a microfiber cloth to your glove box. Whenever you notice it getting dusty, just grab the cloth and wipe it off.
-Wash the windows inside and out. Cleaning off that dusty film on the windshield and the fingerprints in the back seat will increase your visibility.
