Ford Reveals 2015 Model of Best-Selling Nameplate

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich.—Ford revealed the 2015 model of the best-selling nameplate earlier this week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the world's largest exhibition for the mobile industry. The 2015 Ford Focus showcased its competitive efficiency, redesigned style, and advanced technologies that improve driver comfort and safety!

The 2015 Focus will take drivers on a whole new road with its award-winning 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine and six-speed transmission. Once again, the 2015 Focus will surpass the efficiency of the previous models and raise the bar for the competition. Ford Expects to Remain Best-Selling Vehicle Brand in North America

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich - For the fourth straight year in a row, Ford remains the best-selling vehicle brand in North America. Racking up a sales total of 2.4 million vehicles, Ford increased retail sales by 15 percent.

Thanks in part to solid growth in western and southeastern regions on the United States, Ford has taken a strong lead over Toyota. Sales are not growing in just one specific segment either, vehicle sales in cars, trucks, and utilities are all playing a great role in the company's success. In 2012, Ford lead Toyota by 329,677 vehicles and through November of this year, they are leading by 396,041 vehicles.

The strongest of retail sales is coming from import-dominated western and southeastern regions of the country. Sales in the West are up 23 percent and 18 percent in the Southeast. Ford expects the retail sales total for 2013 to surpass 1.7 million vehicles, making for the best retail sales in six years! The Ford Fiesta had a terrific 2013, setting a new sales record with 70,000-plus vehicles sold. The Ford Fusion had its best year ever, with sales projected to exceed 290,000 vehicles.

With the U.S. economy improving and increasing home construction, the Ford F-Series pickup took the cake for the 37 year in a row as the nation's best-selling truck. Sales totaling 688,810 through November, the F-Series will be the overall best-selling vehicle in America for the 32nd year.

Ford Escort Concept Car Debut

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich.- Ford Motor Company's most popular nameplate behind the F-series pickup made a comeback this past weekend! Well sort of. Ford debuted the new Escort concept car at the Shanghai Auto Show in China! Why is the automaker bringing the popular compact sedan after all these years? Well, Ford isn't sure that the needs of the market are being completely fulfilled by the vehicles that they currently offer.

Once the best selling car in the world, the Ford Escort Concept Car is based on the current best selling car, Ford Focus' chassis! Stretched a bit to allow for a roomier back seat, the new Escort concept aims to provide more space while being more affordable than its original replacement, the Ford Focus.  A more stylish look is achieved with a more upright roofline that doesn't come across as arrogant which is important to the Chinese consumer. Just as important, the concept car's jewel-like headlights were inspired by the Chinese character for the number 8, considered lucky as a portent of wealth in the Chinese culture.

The debut of the Ford Escort concept car, marks Ford Motor Company's third compact sedan. However, for China the different vehicle options work well since the country's wealth levels vary widely. Plus, compact cars make up 60% of the new vehicle market which makes the opportunity attractive for Ford. But before we get too excited about the revival of the Ford Escort, it isn't exactly clear if the car will ever be built. While the Escort concept car is very close to a production model since it doesn't include exotic features, it's unlikely that it will come to the United States even if it is produced since it was designed specifically for the Chinese market.
