Gracenote Brings Voice Activated, Mood-Based Music to AppLink Users

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich - Gracenote developers are giving drivers the opportunity to have a unique music experience while driving. This company is bringing a voice activated,  mood-based music application to Ford SYNC® AppLink users. 

The HABU Music smartphone app will be available for Ford SYNC® AppLink equipped vehicles. Using simple voice commands, the app makes it easy to listen to different music collections. Drivers can enjoy any playlist to fit their mood, without having to recall a specific artist or track name.

HABU takes advantage of all of the metadata that Gracenote provides to analyze music collections and arrange songs based on their mood characteristics. There are 25 moods that songs are categorized into and can be retrieved by simple voice commands. Drivers can tap into automatically generated playlists with the press of the SYNC button on the steering wheel. While pressing the SYNC button and saying "Play relaxing", "Play happy", or whatever their mood may be, songs in the related category will play.

Some of the moods and synonyms drivers can request are:

• Happy, party, excited, euphoric
• Wild, rowdy, loud
• Cool, funky, hip
• Peaceful, calming, calm, soothing, relaxing, sleepy
• Dark, solemn, sad, somber
• Empowering, empowered, inspirational, uplifting

Ford SYNC® AppLink™ Will Be Available on 3.4 Million Vehicles in 2014

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich - The industry-leading Ford SYNC® AppLink™will be available on 3.4 million more vehicles later this year! A free upgrade will allow current Ford owners to access and control smartphone apps via voice command. 

Launched in 2007, the SYNC® in-car connectivity system will soon provide new system investments and organizational alignments that will deliver the industry's best fully integrated connected car and digital consumer experience. 

The SYNC AppLink, launched in 2010, has enabled vehicle owners to access and control smartphone apps via voice-command. There are more than 1-million vehicles driving on the road with the SYNC AppLink today and 3.4 million vehicles, 2010 models and newer, will be able to download the AppLink later this year.

Ford Motor Company Buys Technology Start-Up Livio

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. -Working to make your ride as comfortable and easy as possible, Ford Motor Company has bought the technology start-up Livio to make connecting to your car a breeze. The intent behind this purchase is to accelerate the streaming of information into your vehicle and raise the technology standards that currently exist for automakers.

Although Ford Motor Company has bought the technology start-up Livio, it will keep its name as well as its employees. Livio's workforce will work alongside Ford's AppLink engineers to further develop the entertainment technology in Ford vehicles. With their combined knowledge, they hope to be able to produce cars that will seamlessly connect with your smartphone. Ford predicts that 21 million vehicles will have integration systems by 2018, so advancing the current system early will give Ford a head-start on the competition.

Currently, Livio technology allows users to connect their smartphone and its apps to the car radio - with revenue up in the millions, this start-up company is actually very successful.  The creators of Livio hope that the name 'Livio' will become more widely known under the Ford brand. Ford SYNC AppLink & Spotify Offer Music Streaming In Car

Well your in car music experience is about to get even better. Spotify, the leading music streaming service, providing listeners with access to over 20 million songs, will soon be available in vehicles equipped with Ford SYNC AppLink! Voice-activated music streaming will soon be possible with the Ford SYNC AppLink and Spotify Partnership.

With more than 20 million active users all over the globe, 5 million of Spotify's users pay for premium memberships. Coupled with the more than one million Ford vehicles in North America that are equipped with Ford SYNC AppLink, more drivers will be able to access hands-free, voice-activated entertainment while driving. Ford drivers who have their iPhone paired with their vehicle's Ford SYNC AppLink system will have access to more than 20 million songs and playlists while keeping their attention on the road.

Spotify Premium subscribers who have the app running on their SYNC-connected iPhone will be able to access the following features from their Ford SYNC AppLink equipped vehicle, all with simple voice commands: Now Playing, Star/Unstar Track, Add Track to your "Road Trip" Playlist, Choose Playlist, Play Starred, Play Music, Similar Music, Recently Played, Start Album/Artist/Track Radio, Shuffle On/Off, Repeat On/Off, Skip Track Forward/Back, Play/Pause, Built In Social Sharing Capabilities, and Program the preset number keys so they work like a radio and save the currently playing album, artist or playlist to that number for easy access.

The partnership, which has been in the works for a year and a half, is Spotify's first collaboration with an automotive manufacturer. More drivers will soon be able to Stream Music with Spotify and Ford SYNC AppLink as Ford will be the first automaker to launch Spotify In The Car. Although a date has not yet been confirmed when the update to the app will be available.
