All-New F-650/F-750 Join America's Best-Selling Commercial Trucks Lineup

All-New F-650/F-750 Join America's Best-Selling Commercial Trucks Lineup

ST CLAIR SHORES, Mich. — Ford is setting a new standard for medium-duty trucks with the All-New F-650/F-750 Joining America's Best-Selling Commercial Trucks Lineup that will be available in spring 2015. The engineers at Ford were hard at work to deliver a medium-duty lineup to satisfy even the toughest of customer work conditions with trucks that are work-ready, cost-effective, and proven to be Built Ford Tough.

The all-new F-650 and F-750 medium-duty trucks will be available in three cab styles—Regular Cab, SuperCab, and CrewCab—and three models—straight frame, dock height, and an all-new dedicated tractor model for heavy towing. Ford is providing customers with capability and convenience at its finest by equipping both of these trucks with powerful and efficient second generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 diesel engines. Not only do they contain a host of unique features, these trucks are made to impress and now include segment-exclusive Ford gasoline and diesel engines. This is a BIG advantage for Ford because they are the only medium-duty truck manufacturer that builds its own diesel engine and transmission combination. With this approach, Ford engineers can perfect the vehicle's performance across the entire lineup.

As the All-New F-650/F-750 Join America's Best-Selling Commercial Trucks Lineup, the new features in the medium-duty trucks allow drivers to ride safely, conveniently, and comfortably. These trucks feature SYNC® and Crew Chief factory-installed fleet management telematics, a 110-volt power outlet, available rapid-heat that warms the cab in cold climates, and remote start. Additionally, the steering wheel features new advanced controls to keep drivers focused on the road and a convenient turn lever that features automatic five-blink turn signals at a click! The improvements keep on getting better and become more driver-focused with every generation. The new medium-duty trucks are designed with an all-new Ford engineered frame and suspension including a newly available anti-roll bar for smooth and improved riding.

Ford Celebrates Aussie Ute's 80th Anniversary

Ford Celebrates 80th Anniversary Of Aussie Ute
ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich.— Ford celebrates the Aussie Ute's 80th Anniversary; the inspiration that led to the development of the beloved F-Series and Ranger vehicles. The first Ford ute is an important piece of Ford's history which lead the company to years of truck leadership across the globe. Now, let us explain just how the iconic ute was born...

It all started back in 1933 with a letter. Hubert French, the managing director of Ford Motor Company of Australia, received this letter from a farmer's wife asking for help. She explained her and her husband needed a car they could drive to church but also needed a truck that would be able to take their pigs to the market. It was not possible for them to afford both. The couple needed a vehicle that could provide comfort and space for their everyday activities. French took this letter as an opportunity and showed it to a young design engineer, Lewis Bandt. Bandt sketched out a vehicle with a coupe body and 'pickup' sides, later adding a wooden-framed utility section with steel outer panels in place of the rear luggage compartment. The result was a clean, spacious, and smooth looking automobile which quickly developed into the 'must have' vehicle for rural areas!

Between 1940 and 1954, 22,000 were sold! Bandt's coupe utility was a first for Ford Australia and left its mark in the development of the Australia auto industry. The original Ford Ute paved the way for some of the world's greatest vehicles—the Pickup or utility. From the original Ute also came the Falcon ute; an Australian favorite with more than 455,000!

Ford celebrates the Aussie Ute's 80th Anniversary, the iconic vehicle that deserves a great round of applause for inspiring the creation of the F-Series - the world's best-selling vehicle in the country for 32 consecutive years. Who would have thought so many years of successful trucks would have been driven from a single letter? It goes to show that from the very start, Ford produced vehicles with their customers in mind!
