ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich.- Calling all Ford Special Vehicles Team fans! Another SVT model will be making it's showroom debut any day now! The SVT model currently only available only in Europe, the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST, is arriving soon!

First released in Europe, the Fiesta ST was so popular that Ford Motor Company designed a second generation model for dealerships in 40 other countries including the United States! You have probably heard of, or even driven, the Ford Focus ST which is a bit larger than the new Fiesta ST. But with a starting price of $22,195, the new 2014 Ford Fiesta ST will cost $2,500 less than the Focus ST. These more compact Ford ST models are accompanied by the more powerful Raptor and Mustang Shelby GT500 SVT models.

While all of Ford's SVT models are popular, giving the automaker street cred., what has fueled the demand for the Fiesta ST? Most significantly, the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST is actually built with the same 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine as the Ford Escape and Fusion, which allows the Fiesta ST to generate 197 HP and 202 pound-feet of torque! And it doesn't sacrifice fuel economy either -- the vehicle still achieves 35 mpg highway and 26 mpg city!

In addition, the Fiesta ST also boasts upgraded appearance features that set it apart. A different mesh grille, body kit with spoiler, unique wheels, stiffer suspension, and additional upgrades like Recaro seats distinguish the 2014 Fiesta ST at the tune of an additional $2,000.

The 2014 Ford Fusion will offer rear inflatable safety belts, becoming the only vehicle in the popular midsize segment to combine the attributes of safety belts and airbags!

With this new technology that contains airbags in the outboard rear seats, Ford Motor Company is demonstrating their commitment to keep drivers and passengers safe while on the road. During an accident, vehicle sensors determine when the inflatable belt should deploy, signaling the belt's tubular airbag to rapidly inflate with compressed gas. The available rear inflatable safety belts in the 2014 Ford Fusion will offer additional protection specifically for rear seat passengers, which tend to be children or older adults who are more vulnerable to head, neck, and chest injuries.

Ford's inflatable safety belt technology can help keep your child safe even if they are seated in a car seat or booster by distributing crash forces across more of their torso up to five times more than a traditional seat belt! Spreading the impact over a larger area reduces pressure on the passenger's chest which helps to control head and neck motion.

The automaker's inflatable safety belts were originally introduced on the 2011 Explorer and have now made their way to the 2014 Ford Fusion, as well as the Hybrid and Energi models. 49th Anniversary Of The Ford Mustang

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich.- On today's date, 49 years ago, in 1974 the very first Ford Mustang made its debut in New York at the World's Fair! Unexpected and unusual styling for its day, Ford's Product Planning Manager knew the new vehicle was going to be a hit after Ford employees were impressed by the design during a sneak peek.

Starting at just $2,368, the requests for the new Ford vehicle started pouring into dealers. At its debut, Ford Motor Company had forecasted that sales would total about 100,000 annually. However, after 22,000 orders were placed for the pony car on the very first day it was for sale, that prediction proved to be low. The Ford Mustang's appearance on the race track as the pace car for the 1964 Indianapolis 500 encouraged sales even further to 417,000 vehicles in just 12 months. And it didn't stop there, the 'Stang skyrocketed to one million vehicles sold by the second year!

“When the Mustang was unveiled, the reaction was so positive that there was no doubt it was going to be a success,” recalls Joe Oros, chief designer of Ford’s original pony car.
