Ford F-150 might have a Land Rover Turbodiesel V6

This Ford F-150 might be packing a lot of power. According to AutoBlog, "The engine produces a respectable 254 horsepower and a healthy 443 pound-feet of torque". Their spy photographers caught this Ford F-150 driving around Dearborn, wearing camouflage around the bed – not so unusual near Ford's headquarters. "What's interesting with this particular mule is that it might be packing a Jaguar-Land Rover turbodiesel V6".

2.7-Liter EcoBoost With Auto Start-Stop Adds Efficiency and Capability to New F-150

2.7-Liter EcoBoost With Auto Start-Stop Adds Efficiency and Capability to New F-150
ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich - A high output and lightweight design will compliment the all-new F-150 and it's 2.7-liter EcoBoost with auto start-stop, adding to the efficiency and capability of the pickup. As America's truck leader, Ford is debuting a high-output twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 that features an completely new design. Power and performance for the F-150 will now be stronger and smarter.

The Auto Start-Stop technology in the F-150 will increase fuel efficiency by shutting off the engine when the vehicle is stopped. Aside from when towing or in four-wheel drive, the drivers will have power on demand and as soon as the brake is released, the engine restarts in a millisecond.

The 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine uses the first compacted graphite iron cylinder block in a gasoline engine. The composite CGI/aluminum block saves weight while providing strength where it is needed for the most durability. No one has built a six-cylinder engine like this before, it is the most technically advanced and efficient engine ever designed.

With the production of such an outstanding vehicle, comes the intensive testing of it. The engine raced in the Baja 1000, an 883-mile event, without any issues and surpassed Ford's extensive and difficult testing regimen. The F-150 experienced more than 1,000 consecutive extreme temperature loops that brought the engine from minus 25 degrees to 235 degrees Fahrenheit. Ford also tested the engines ability to endure repeated stop/starts with more than 900 test hours and 240,000 starts and stops. There was also more than 800 hours of towing and unloaded-driving testing across the entire engine power range with gasoline-ethanol mixtures up to E20 and intentionally degraded engine oil.

The new F-150 will feature a complete lineup of powerplants to let customers alter the nation's best-selling truck to their personal needs. Sales of the Ford F-150 3.5-liter EcoBoost that launched less than three years ago has topped 425,000 units in the United States and accounts for approximately 35 percent of all F-150 sales. Once the all-new F-150 goes on sale later this year, it will ultimately raise the bar for all trucks now and in the future.

2014 Ford F-150 Incorporates Sustainable Materials

2014 Ford F-150 Incorporates Sustainable Materials

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich.- America's best selling truck is the latest example of how Ford Motor Company has made it their mission to incorporate as much recycled content into vehicles as possible! The new 2014 Ford F-150 incorporates sustainable materials, including the newest rice hull material, while remaining Built Ford Tough!

Ford Motor Company already incorporates recycled cotton, soybeans, recycled carpet, recycled tires, recycled plastic soda pop and water bottles, and recycled post-industrial plastics in the production of F-Series trucks, but the latest sustainable material being utilized is a plastic that is reinforced with rice hulls, a byproduct of rice grain. The new material will be used to reinforce plastic in an electrical harness on the 2014 F-150.

While Ford has made it clear that they are doing all they can to make vehicles more eco-friendly, the automaker does not sacrifice toughness or durability. The process of adopting a new sustainable material is a long one. After a new material that can feasibly be used in one of the vehicles is discovered, it must undergo extensive testing to make sure that it performs as well if not better than similar and current materials. The new rice hull-reinforced plastic is the perfect example. Developed by Ford and RheTech, the plastic was tested on everything from smell, appearance, functionality, and flammability for over a year before it was approved.

We all know that fuel economy is a top priority for Ford as well as other automakers. But Ford doesn't only want to help you reduce trips pump. Ford is also working to reduce their environmental impact which is why it is also important to recognize the impact that is made by producing vehicles with sustainable materials. Over the years, Ford has begun to utilize array of eco-friendly materials in a few of its vehicles, but to demonstrate how the effect can really add up take a look at the F-Series. With more than 650,000 sales per year, the F-Series alone uses about 10 million pounds of recycled cotton annually! And it doesn't end there. The 2014 Ford F-150 incorporates sustainable materials including a minimum of 45,000 pounds of rice hulls for the new reinforced plastic which will be sourced from Arkansas!

And, that's barely considering the new eco-friendly technologies that Ford has developed for the F-Series. Ford F-150 Named Most American Vehicle

Ford F-150 Named Most American Vehicle

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich.- The annual Cars.com's "Most American Index" has been released and for the first time in four years a Detroit manufacturer has topped the list! Propelled by strong sales, Ford Motor Company's F-150 has been named the Most American Vehicle!

Beating out the previous title holder, Toyota Camry, the Ford F-150 was named Most American Vehicle on the auto website's American made index. To snag the top spot, the Ford F-150 was graded on the percentage of the vehicle's parts produced in the United States, final vehicle assembly point, and vehicle sales. With 75% domestic-parts content and strong sales, the Ford F-150 has reclaimed it's rank as the Most American Vehicle, a title the truck held from 2006-2008.

Positive news surrounding the auto industry continues to pour in, but Ford's top ranking in this Cars.com index proves how pickups are dominating auto sales so far this year and is another indication that domestic automakers are making a comeback.

2015 Ford F-150 Sneak Peek

2015 Ford F-150 Sneak Peek

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich.- A few months ago the Ford Atlas concept truck debuted at the Detroit Auto Show. Some felt it may have been our first glimpse at the next generation Ford F-150. Well, you can't quite tell if it is indeed the Atlas, but what's believed to be the 2015 Ford F-150 has been spotted while out testing! The 2015 Ford F-150 Sneak Peek doesn't exactly reveal every detail, but we do notice a few shocking details.

It's obvious that the next generation F-150 is still in early development. However, the spy shots reveal that it retains the chrome Gillette-style front grille present on the current F-150. The most notable detail that stands out in these photos is that there are only five-lug wheel hubs which means that this could be a prototype for a lighter duty pickup truck like the Ford F-100.  Trucks with higher payload ratings, like the current Ford F-150 usually have six or seven-lug hubs.

2015 Ford F-150 Sneak Peek

Thanks to advanced metals, the 2015 Ford F-150 will be 700 pounds lighter and will enjoy improved fuel economy. This also offers the option for a smaller engine which is encouraged by the tiny split exhaust tips. Current Ford trucks have larger exhausts. Gas mileage is increased even further by the significant improvements in aerodynamics on the next generation Ford truck.

Stay tuned for more 2015 Ford F-150 Sneak Peeks! Ford Compact Truck Replacement

Ford Compact Truck Replacement
Ford's current global Ranger pickup truck.
ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich.- Since production of the Ford Ranger ended in December 2011, Ford Motor Company has been trying to make sense of a business case for a new compact pickup truck to add to the lineup. America lost its last true compact pickup truck when Ranger production ended. Now, as we demand more powerful and more capable vehicles, the trucks just keep getting bigger and bigger.

But it seems like people are still interested in a compact pickup truck, right? While the consumer interest for a compact Ford truck does exist, Ford has struggled to produce a compact pickup that doesn't overlap the full-size pickup segment. Among other things, a Ford Compact Truck Replacement would have to have a significant difference in size, price, and fuel economy compared to the current F-Series offerings. Ideally, 1,000 pounds of payload capacity, 3,000 pounds of towing, and a dramatic reduction in fuel economy would be perfect for a compact Ford Truck. However, it would still need a reasonable sticker price. Ford does have a current global Ranger pickup, but it would have too much overlap with the F-150 in the U.S. Something completely new is needed, meaning that a Ford Compact Truck Replacement may not need to be a traditional body-on-frame truck. It just may be a car-based pickup instead.

Pricing for a Ford Compact Truck Replacement presents even further difficulties since the current Ford F-150 is priced at just $24,500 before discounts and Ford's most basic Fiesta is priced at $14,000. This leaves only a small window of opportunity to get the price right, aside from what it would cost to produce the compact truck too.

Although the compact truck segment presents some important difficulties, Ford Motor Company understands that there is a market for a true compact truck and is working to produce one that fits. Until a new Ford Compact Truck Replacement hits the market, take a look at the 2013 Ford F-150 Brochure and remember that we can help you save with Ford F-150 Rebates
