While the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition Mustang is the only one of its kind, its sale was especially noteworthy since all of the proceeds benefitted the EAA Young Eagles program! The program, which helps to inspire and motivate the next generation of leaders, aviators, and innovators, has provided free introductory flights to more than 1.6 million young people since 1992!
Not only was the vehicle honored with VIN 0001, it celebrates and commemorates the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. Ford's design and engineering teams were able to capture and incorporate the two recognizable symbols that are displayed by both the United States Air Force Thunderbirds and Ford Motor Company: dedication and excellence!
